This page explains how sources should be selected for immigration, travel and company information and how readers can assess their applicability. It sets an editorial standard; it does not certify every published statement.
Official requirements
Visa, residence and citizenship conditions should be checked against documents issued by the competent authority in the destination country. Current legislation and official instructions from immigration authorities, consulates and authorised visa operators take priority. A commercial intermediary does not set government requirements.
Starting points for primary-source research include Your Europe, AIMA — Portugal’s immigration authority and Nigeria Immigration Service. These are research entry points, not universal instructions for every journey. A specific requirement needs a link to the relevant document.
Who a rule applies to
Nationality, residence, application category, travel purpose and the effective date all matter. Requirements for Russian nationals must not automatically be applied to Nigerian nationals. The English edition should address its own audience even when linked to a Russian counterpart.
Companies, registers and customer accounts
A company website describes advertised services without proving delivery. An official register establishes information within its own scope without guaranteeing service quality. A customer account describes its author’s experience. These sources should be attributed with available dates and verification limits.
Presenting sources
- Link to the document or page supporting the claim rather than only a homepage.
- For changing requirements, identify the document date, effective period and access date where relevant.
- Explain conflicts between sources.
- If the primary source is unavailable, disclose the limitation without implying independent confirmation.
Reporting a source problem
Send the article address, disputed passage and a link to a more current source. Do not send passport scans or payment information. Publishing this standard does not mean all older articles have already been brought into compliance.
