Corrections and content updates

Readers may report an error, outdated requirement or inaccurate quotation. This page explains the process; it does not claim that every article has already been checked again.

What to include

  • The page address and the specific statement.
  • The issue and your proposed correction.
  • A source link and the date of the change, if known.

Do not send original documents, passport scans or payment information. An initial enquiry can use a description and public sources.

Considering a report

A material claim should be compared with its source and context, including dates, countries and applicant categories. Additional information may be needed. Receiving a report does not itself establish that its claims are correct.

Explaining changes

A correction that changes the meaning, conditions or material conclusions of an article should be explained on that page: what changed, when and on what basis. A spelling or formatting change must not be presented as a fresh factual assessment.

Different audiences

A correction to a Russian page may require a separate check of its English counterpart, and vice versa. A rule for Russian applicants must not automatically be applied to Nigerian nationals. Applicability should be clarified for each audience.

Correction history

Material corrections belong with the affected article. Publishing this policy does not imply that a complete public log of all past changes already exists.
